Coming Soon

1. Full Pizzeria Bianco trip report and review. The place deserves much more love than Celine gave it.
2. The PCS (Pizza Championship Series). Currently have 3 voters (possibly two if Eisen doesn't recant his pledge to vote for Papa Murphy's). Apply to be a voter in the comments.
3. Nienhouse geneology. I ordered a DNA kit from National Geographic after watching "The Human Family Tree". They will be able to trace my ancestry all the way back to Africa.

Bianco's was amazing

Brian and I had a great time catching up with Prels and our friends Chelsea and Brian Eisen. We went to Bianco's Pizza in Phoenix which is honestly the greatest pizza we ever ate. It won the James Beard Culinary award (only pizza place to ever do so) and was totally worth the 4 hour wait!! I'm so thankful for Brian who makes me try new things!

Nawotka's Bachelor Auction

Our friend Brian Nawotka was in a bachelor auction for a Leukemia fundraiser. The girls from work and I went to go support him :) it was fun and hilarious!

Brian and me right after we got to the hotel room...we are exhausted and pale white :)
Loved walking on our beach!

Our favorite area to lay ...shaded by the tree...quick dips into the ocean...and an occasionally bomb from the birds. the jerks.

we loved our beach..nice and calm but with some waves. our helicopter guide said it was a good beach to learn how to surf.

no those are NOT fanny packs! they were our life preservers. the helicopter ride was amazing even though i got kinda green 20 minutes into it :)

San Diego/Del Mar Day Trip

This past Sunday I (Brian) swung through Palm Desert and picked up Prels and set out to San Diego for a day at Del Mar Racetrack and dinner at the world famous Blue Water Fish Market & Grill.

Had lunch at a Chinese place down the road from Del Mar. This was in my fortune cookie:

Would it prove to be prophetic? (Spoiler: No. Absolutely not.)

The Track was amazing though:

The main event of the day was undoubtedly, the Clement Hirsch Stakes with undefeated Zenyatta going for 12 in a row.
Despite going 6 wide the whole way and being about 9 lengths back entering the stretch, she came all the way back to win by a nose.
A rough day at the track was made worse when my selection in the 10th race broke down and had to be put down on the track (the seventh in 3 weeks over the supposedly "safer" artificial surface that has ruined California racing).

After the races, we hit up the Blue Water in San Diego. Line was about 20 deep, despite it being about 8:00 on a Sunday evening. I had the calamari app. and the Blackened Black Sea Bass sandwich. The food was phenominal.
